SDCC 2009

Tue Jun 9, 2009, 8:02 AM
Okay, kids... it's that time of year again.

I'll be in Artist's Alley, table BB-13, at the San Diego Comic Con (July 23-26, 2009). Barring any travel fiascos, I will be at Preview Night, July 22nd.

I will be promoting The White Album [link] , a collection of art pieces inspired by The Beatles' songs. The book is 8.5" x 8.5", hardbound, full color, 64 pages, $20. All the contributing artists will be at the show, available to autograph. The first edition is limited to only 800 copies and will not be available until the Con.

I can take only four commissions per day at the show, and will accept requests to be placed in queue in advance. Special SDCC commission pricing is as follows:

■ Personal sketchcard (full color, one character) - $40
■ 9x12" illustration (b&w, rendered, one character) - $60 (additional figures extra)
■ 9x12" illustration (color, single character only, please) - $100

If you're interested in anything else, please let me know in advance (so I can prepare materials) and we can discuss costs.

Look forward to seeing you all there! Let's have a good time!!!!

-Gabe

Just wondering if you got my note asking if you're still up for a trade.

Sorry, Maz.

Yes I am. I have plenty of PotA reference at home (believe it or not). I'm going to attack it this weekend.

Hope you had a good 4th.

If you could do something in copic I'd really appreciate it. Your copic pieces look incredible. Also, what would you like in return?
Copics it is, then.

Let me think on it. Given your stellar black-and-whites, I have some crazy ideas...

Haha nice. Thank you for the kind words. I feel like you're on a whole different level from me, so to hear such kind words is really flattering. Get back to me when you can. Where you planning on drawing an ape character?
No worries. The faves are ALWAYS worth it!
See you at SDCC. We need to hang there!

:D
I have found that the Bristol smooth finish works pretty well for Copic. I generally use the vellum finish for pencil drawings, but found that it is much to absorbent for marker use. The smooth also makes for better blending and layering.

Buena suerte. :)
