Gnoll by gph-artist Gnoll by gph-artist
This was a commission piece I did for a gentleman several years ago at Gen-Con. This was his character from D&D.

I really enjoy drawing realistic anthropomorphic creatures. There's a freedom to handling their posture and demeanor you can't really get with drawing realistic people.

The guy had an amazing costume of this character he wore one day to the show. Really cemented for me what he wanted in the drawing.

9" x 12" on Bristol; pencil.

This is by far one of the best drawings of a gnoll I have seen on DA. I mean, the head actually looks like a hyena head and it's much more realistic than a lot of the ones I've seen. Kudos. I wish you'd draw my gnoll character, haha!

Thanks, Matthew. I was especially proud of the head. I had noticed, looking even some of the reference books at the time, that the gnoll illustrations looked weak; more dog-like than hyena.

You can always commission me if you really really want a gnoll drawing...

Yeah I agree with you, the gnolls in most of the books don't really look hyena like. What do you charge for commissions?
